Surabaya, June 3, 2024 - The Bachelor's Program in Fine Arts of the Faculty of Language and Arts at Universitas Negeri Surabaya, together with the Bachelor's Program in Art Education, inaugurates the event Interaksi, an International Art and Design Competition. This annual competition is organized online by the Student Association of the Department of Fine Arts and Design at Universitas Negeri Surabaya. The competition includes nine categories of fine arts and design.
Philosophy The word "interaksi" is derived from the acronym “International Art and Design Competition.” Interaction itself means the process of communication that influences individuals, groups, or other entities. It involves the exchange of information, ideas, emotions, and actions. The essence of interaction serves as the foundation and hope that this annual competition provides a platform for the community to express all ideas and forms of self-interaction with nature and culture through their potential.
Background The world of visual arts in this century is seemingly filled with various symbols. The role of symbols would not be easily understood without the broad interaction of the community's spirit. Therefore, the discussions that occur are not always related to the beauty of nature and scenic mountains but rather to the friction of cultural, social, and religious aspects, becoming hot topics amidst harmonious differences.
Theme "Journey of Culture" refers to the journey undertaken by a culture over time, encompassing its development, changes, and interactions with other cultures. It involves the evolution of traditions, values, norms, arts, language, and other aspects of community life. In the context of globalization, the journey of culture becomes increasingly complex due to more frequent intercultural interactions.
